Art Resources in Teaching (A.R.T.), founded by Ellen Gates Starr and Jane Addams at Hull-House in 1894, is Chicago's oldest and largest visual arts educational organization providing vibrant arts programs to over 12,000 elementary school children, teachers, and parents each year. A.R.T. embraces our role as advocates for the inclusion of art as a core subject, in all its forms, into the school day of all children. A.R.T. is an innovator in exploring new ways to introduce the visual arts into the lives of students, teachers, families and communities. We model programs that integrate the arts into instruction in other core academic subjects, especially language arts and math.
